July 2020 ~ Week 3

Monday, July 13th

Here is a new picture of the wild kitty that we have been feeding for a little over a month now. Tonight while we were down in the family room having FHE, the cat came up and sat outside for a few minutes. On this side of our house, the basement is only partially underground, so this window was the perfect height for the kitty to come sit and be able to watch us. I took this picture through the window. Maybe one day it will let us get close to it.

Tuesday, July 14th

Today was transfer day down in the APM. Elder Juarez and his district are all staying put for another transfer except for one Elder. He will be unexpectedly going home as his mom passed away last week. As Elder Juarez told us what happened, he got a little teary eyed, as did I.

Elder Bartlome’s mom was only 47 years old and died from a brain hemorrhage on June 11th. This picture was taken just the day before on June 10th. She leaves behind her husband and four sons ages 12 to 19. I don’t personally know the Bartlome family, but my heart goes out to them and they are in my prayers.

Wednesday, July 15th

July 15th is mine and Carlos’ wedding anniversary. I came up to the kitchen this morning and found this waiting for me. Carlos is the sweetest!

Later that afternoon, we packed up the cooler with drinks, bought some snacks and headed out for a late afternoon / early evening by the water.

It worked out so nicely that Carlos had our anniversary off and that we had some really nice weather. It was an amazing day! I’m so thankful for him and for our marriage. I look forward to the years to come!

Thursday, July 16th

The kids enjoyed the sunshine today. Emily and David spent time in the kiddie pool while Ashley rode around on Emily’s bike (her old bike). Carlos and I have looked around town for a bigger pool for the kids and have not had any luck. Hopefully we will find something soon.

Later that night, after all the kids were in bed asleep and I was folding laundry downstairs, I got a text from Jose with this picture:

He said that he had messed up bad. He rested his left hand for a second and 20 foot 4×4 beam smashed his fingers. His middle finger got the worse of it. It instantly started bleeding from under his fingernail and out the top of his finger. MY POOR GUY! I told him that I wished it was me instead of him. It was so hard to not be near by to be able to help him. Carlos felt the same way. Jose’s response was, “I’d rather it be me than either of you guys.” We texted each other over the next 3 hours. It will hurt and be swollen for quite sometime, but he will be ok.

Friday, July 17th

We played Clue for family game night this evening!

Saturday, July 18th

Our dearest Jose and his girlfriend Belle came up to babysit Ian and the kids, so that Carlos and I could go out for our anniversary. We hadn’t been to the mall since before covid19 and with David’s birthday 1 week away, we thought it would be a good time to go birthday shopping for him.

Afterward we went to dinner at Olive Garden. It was delicious!!!

This was the only picture I took while Jose was here today. Something happened to David right after I snapped this first pic and he got hurt….so I put my phone down and comforted my little guy instead. The kids all had a good time with Jose and Belle today.

Sunday, July 19th

We had another day of beautiful weather. After we did church at home, we headed outside to enjoy the sunshine. David and Emily went in the pool while Ashley and I played phase one.

Later on, Carlos decided he wanted to get out and enjoy the sun too, and we ended up here:

I guess they just couldn’t stay away from Walker Park! This time around who ever is in the inflatable boat will be wearing a life jacket. Carlos and I decided to pick some up on our shopping date yesterday. We don’t have one for everyone in the family yet, but plan to get more life jackets soon. What a nice week it has been. We are looking forward to more sunny summer days!
