Second Week of February

Monday, February 11th

Snow!!!! I was happy to have snow. It always looks so beautiful falling and I love how peaceful it is when you are outside while it falls. Look at the size of those snowflakes!

I took this quick pic during family scripture study, because I thought Jose and David looked so cute together.

Tonight is also the first time Jose will be sleeping in his new bedroom. After Elder Juarez entered the MTC, we did a room switch upstairs. I think Jose had to sleep on the couch for a little over 2 weeks while we painted etc. He was a pretty good sport through all of it. Tuesday, February 12th

This morning we received a call from our beloved Elder Juarez. He was at the SLC airport, getting ready to fly to AZ where he will be serving his mission. It felt really good to hear his voice. That was the highlight of the day! I love and miss him so much. I am so proud of him. I have to admit I was a little worried about him flying, as he is the only one in his travel group and he has not flown since he was 10 years old. During the short phone call, I had to hold back tears. We could tell by his voice, that he was doing the same. Poor Ashley was in tears when I took her to school. All the kids miss their big brother.

That day after school, we put together a birthday package for Elder Juarez. Once we got that mailed off, the kids we super excited to write out their valentines for school.

Wednesday, February 13th

With Carlos’ new work schedule, the snow and everything else going on lately, I ended up waiting until tonight to go shopping for Valentine’s Day. I highly do not recommend doing so. Especially if you live in a small town where there are not many places to shop. Everything was picked over and a lot of the good chocolates were gone. I buy reese’s hearts every year, as these are a favorite at our house. Last year, I made these reese’s lovers baskets. Here what I did for Jose this year hehehe… These reese’s pb cups were the only reese’s I found and I sure was glad I did.

Thursday, February 14th

As soon as we got back from dropping the girls off at school, David and I heart attacked his Daddy’s car for Valentine’s Day. This is Carlos’ 2nd week working swing shift (5pm to 3:45am). His total commute time is about 3 hours a day. We thought this would be a fun way to surprise him as he was leaving for work. The 2nd picture is my Valentine’s Cactus and the last picture is of the little gifts that I left out for my hubby to see when he woke up for lunch. I left while he was sleeping to go to David and Emily’s Valentine’s parties at their schools.

1.David and I doing puzzles at his party. 2.The class making “love potion.” 3. Jade (the little girl I babysit) & David

Here are Ian, Ashley, David & Emily with their “I Love You Day” gifts. I didn’t get a picture of Jose with his gift because I gave it to him in the morning before school. (He had a basketball game that was 3 hours away tonight). The last pic was me with the gift my hubby bought me. We had realized that even though we have been together for almost 13 years, he has never bought me a stuffed animal. It is kind of funny that he just started working nights. He is not here when I go to bed, so I can hug the bear he gave me instead of him.

Saturday, February 16th

Today is Elder Juarez’s birthday!! He is the one who made me a mama, and how grateful I am to be his mama!!!! I hope he had a wonderful birthday in AZ. I will have to wait until next week to find out all about it. I am definitely looking forward to the new missionary guidelines for communication with their families. We could be getting another call from Elder Juarez before Mother’s Day!

This evening we Carlos had the great idea of taking the kids to do something fun. Especially since he has been working nights and has not been able to spend much time with them lately. He decided to take the kids to Chuck E. Cheese. Jonny came along with us……..which was nice for Jose to have a friend there, since his usual side kick is in AZ. We also did a little shopping at the mall too.

Sunday, February 17th

These are kind of funny pictures, but I thought I would share them anyway. David had been talking about what color his eyes are. At different times they look different colors. We took these pictures of our faces together with our eyes lined up, so David could look at our all of our eyes at the same time. What color are David’s eyes?

What do you all think? What would you call David’s eye color?
