Valentine’s Photo Shoot

Last year we did this super awesome photo shoot a few days before Valentine’s Day. I will admit we did have some sun, but it was quite chilly out for the kids. For the most part they were troopers. I also let them take breaks and sit in the car to warm up.

For colors we went with red & white. I had all three kids wear blue jeans. For props, we inflated the red balloons we had at home and we were ready to role.

One of the things that is fun about doing a photo shoot is looking for a background. There are plenty of times when we are driving and I point out to my husband, “Oh that would be a great spot to take pictures!” When I brave up enough to take the kids out to do a photo shoot, I get to use some of those spots! The first spot we went to, was kind of a wooded area, but wasn’t a deep wooded area. There were no leaves on the trees due to the time of the year and I was hopping that being able to see through the trees would look kinda cool.

Next, we tied the balloons to some of the low lying branches. David like watching the balloon bobble in the wind.

The next two pictures are probably my all time favorite of this photo shoot. I love how these two pictures bring out their sweetness and love right in time for Valentine’s Day.

Our next location was just a grassy area with the hill in the background and a log that we could use as a prop. There was also a little gravel pathway that we used for a group picture.

In this picture, you can tell that they were quite cold. Especially Emily and David. In fact, after this pic David went back to the car to warm up.

Sisterly love!

Can you see the heart shape? This turned out cute, but if I were to do it again I would have Emily hold both of the balloons since the wind was blowing toward her and away from Ashley. That way, the shadow of the balloon would be overlaping with Ashley’s shadow.

After this, we headed home for some lunch and to get warmed up. After lunch, we stepped outside and took a few group pics in our back yard, as I had felt we didn’t get just the right pose earlier because of the cold and the wind. I thought these two pics came out nicely with only using our fence as the background.
